LOOKING BACK......

Web 2.0. What can I say? I feel like I am just beginning to understand the potential of 2.0. It is easy to understand how I would use some parts of 2.0 (e.g., Social Networking, It's a Library Thing, Wikis) but not others (e.g.Flickr, Social Bookmarking). Regardless, it is here to stay, so my goal is to make use of it whenever I can!

ZOHOING....

Well, I created a ZOHO account and used several of their features, including word processing. It was surprising how easy it was to use. It seems like a great option for patrons who do not have access to Microsoft Word.

RSS FEEDS

Now this I get. I signed up for several feeds (libraries, books, food, news, entertainment, and, of course AACPL Exploration) and have enjoyed following them. I checked out feeds from other blogs and was interested in what people followed.

SOCIAL BOOKMARKING

Folksonomies.... Delicious....not a fan. I checked out libraries using Delicious (Assumption College for Sisters's, e.g.) and did not find the information compelling or useful. Am I missing something?

SOCIAL NETWORKING

I have joined Facebook and now keep track of numerous friends and family. I have also joined LinkedIn, which I think would be a more appropriate networking forum for libraries because it focuses on the work world.

WIKIS

I became well acquainted with the Long Range Plan Wiki during the time that I was on the LRP committee. It was very valuable in providing a weekly, if not daily, accounting of changes to the plan. More importantly, I think that it proved to be more efficient in communicating these changes than email.

LIBRARY THING

Library Thing is finally part of my repertoire! I have enjoyed creating my library. Here is a link to my profile: http://www.librarything.com/profile/pamelabowling
